RADIO RECEPTION IN NELSON
(To tile Editor) Sir, —1 feel it would be a serious loss if our local radio station has to close due to the fact that the Board evidently cannot possibly know or realise the lack of value we get for our license fee compared with other parts. I have been away in the North Island, where I've spent a. number of pleasant evenings in various localities (varying from Wellington, Wanganui, to Auckland) without being bothered by static exceptin the smallest degree. It is therefore with a very real sense of annoyance that 1 return to Nelson and have to listen to a ghastly succession of static interference, unless 1 tune in on 2ZR-. It makes me wish I had only paid for a quarterly license, as if the local station closes down I shall certainly do the same, as doubtless will many others, and sell, the set, for I am not getting value for my license fee when other parts are so well served compared with Nelson. I may say, if my set was not fitted with a gadget to reduce static other stations except 2Z It would be over 80 per cent, useless during the year.—l am, etc., " GEORGE PALMER. Nelson, 21st April.
