CHINA’S “CHRISTIAN GENERAL” PEKING. 12th April. Ecng Yu-hsiang, formerly known as the Christian General, who retired to a temple on Taislmn, China’s holy mountain, in the Shantung Province, last autumn, has now embraced the Buddhist faith. He has also become a vegetarian. Every morning, according to a dispatch published in the Chinese Press, he upends an hour studying the Buddhist' scriptures, followed by Chinese boxing, in which he is said to have become highly proficient.
