NELSON AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION

election OF OFFICERS The 41st annual meeting of members of the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association held on Wednesday afternoon, was attended by Air A. Gibbs, president, in the chair, .Messrs D. -S. Max, G. \V. Best, C. R. Sutton, A. E. Max'. W. Martin, G. Manson, A. N. Wilkinson, F. C'. Page, E. H. llarkness, It, S. Haycock, N. 1.. Kerr, H. T. Cook, ]{. Forbes, W. Harford, 11. C. Schroder, J. T. Barnes, E. W. Win. A. J. Dislioi', W. Hill, R>. 11. Hammond, E. Bensenmnn, M. Rogers, C. H. Ching, H. F. Palmer, G. L. Mead, L. H. Higgins, W. B. Palmer, G. W. Wilkes, A. Thomson, J. Wyllie, A. C. Challies, and R. O’Connor.

The balance sheet, after discussion, was adopted on the motion of Mr G. W. Best, seconded by Mr G. L. Mead. There being only one nomination for the office of President, Mr D. S. Max was declared elected. For the office of vice-president, Mr N. L. Kerr being the only one nominated was also declared elected.

After a ballot the following were'declared members of the committee: — Messrs F. C. Page, A. G. Griffin, J. G. Ingram, A. C. Challies. 0. L. Mead, G. Wyllie, W. Martin, C. It. Sutton, A. N. Wilkinson, E. IT. llarkness, J. 11. Jordan, A. E. Max. M. Rogers, A. J. Dislier, R. H. Hammond, J. Biggar, W. Hill, W. H. May, G. W. Best, R. S. Haycock, G. W. Wilkes, E. W. Win, H. F. Palmer, and R. IT. Coleman. Mr E. J. Thomas was re-elected auditor.

On the motion of Mr L. H. Higgins, seconded by Mr G. L. Mead, it was resolved that a motion of appreciation of the services of Messrs A. Thomson, W. ]). Dron, and G. Manson, who were not seeking re-elcctiOn, be recorded on the books. Messrs Thomson and Manson thanked members for their appreciation. A similar vote was accorded to Mr C. 11. Ching, who failed to retain his seat on the committee. Mr Ching thanked members for their remarks. Mr Gibbs then called on the Presidentelect. Nlr D. S. Max, to take the chair. Mr Max thanked members for electing him to the office. After all, the President was only a figure-head and everything depended oil the efforts of the committee. Just as hi a football team it was’necessary for all to work together and by doing this success would he assured. He congratulated Mr N. L. Kerr on his election as vice-president. Mr Kerr thanged members for election and assured them of his support. He congratulated the President on his election and mentioned that he was probably the youngest president the association had ever had. New members of the committee, Messrs Wilkes, Challies, Hill, and Hammond breifly returned thanks for their election. On the motion of Mr A. Max a vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring president, Mr Albert Gibbs. Mr Gibbs briefly returned thanks. He hoped to remain on the committee for two more years and then, having reached the allotted span, lie would he ready to retire.

On the- motion of Mr A. Max, seconded by Mr W. Martin, it was resolved that it lie a recommendation to the incoming committee to again approach the Borough Council for a rebate on rates for the ensfilirij* ydffr.

On Mr Schroder's motion it was resolved that it he a. reoccendation to the incoming committee to endeavour to place the class for photography •on a more satisfactory basis. Mr Kerr stated that he felt sure this could be done. Many amateur photographers thought that the whole of the work must he done by the exhibitors and this was not so. A suggestion by Mr Cook that the time of tlie grand parade he placed at the head of each class concerned was also carried. General satisfaction was expressed (hat an increased water supply would in future he available, at the Show Grounds. At the conclusion of the meeting those present, at the invitation of the President, adjourned for afternoon tea when an enjoyable half-hour was spent.
