SCIENTIFIC EXHIBITS
AT THE CAWTHRON INSTITUTE INVITATION TO PUBLIC In order that Nelson citizens and the farming community, may be able to understand and appreciate more clearly the work of the Cawtliron Institute, arrangements will be made from time to time enabling citizens and agriculturists to inspect the work of the different scientific- departments.
In conversation with a representative of the ‘.‘Evening Mail,” Mr T. Rigg, Director of the Institute, stated that, the photographic exhibit of New Zealand Native plants recently held at the Institute had been . greatly apreciated by a large number of Nelsonians. It was now intended to arrange similar displays in . the scientific departments of the Institute, illustrating the work which was being done for farmers and orchardists.
. Next week facilities will be provided fo- Nelson citizens and agriculturists to see the work of the Entomological Department. Special arrangements have been made for visitors to be conducted through the Entomological laboratories where the main features of the work of this department will be illustrated by suitably prepared exhibits. It is hoped that advantage will be widely taken of this opportunity to see the scope of the Entomological activities of the ■ Institute and to learn something of the lifehistory and control of our major orchard, farm and forest inspect pests. As advertised elsewhere, the Entomological buildings of the Institute, situated at the corner of Halifax and Milton streets will be open for inspection on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2.30 to 4.30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
