SMALL EXHIBITORS COMBINE LONDON, 6th April. The smaller cinematograph exhibitors in Britain are. combining to resist the 1 ileniands of renters for popular "talkies.” Renters booking films ask Irom 35 to 50 per cent, of the box-office receipts, an extreme case being 60 per ' cent. Exhibitors are now demanding that the maximum shall be 40 per cent, of the takings, to which renters arc retaliating with a threat to cut off supplies of films. i, The smaller exhibitors emphasise that l.liev are subjected to competition from the big circuits, which obtain films for 25 per cent, of the takings, or even less.
