Palmerston North never before witnessed such a display of .blooms, which are described ns' amazing. His Excellency the Governor-General (Lord Blodisloe) in his speech at the

official opening, described the show as a truly magnificent- display, and lie congratulated the organisers most warmly. Ho said lie was perfectly satisfied that the choice of Palmerston North as a location for the show was fully justified. in con junction with the show there is being held an exhibition of bandcraft and some industries by tlie Women’s Institute, the exhibits being of a liigh order. Lord Bledisloe paid a tribute to this exhibition, stating that it was a great movement, and possibly the greatest movement amongst women that the world had seen. As far as country women were concerned, it had taken root in a very favourable soil in this country where the women were not to lie matched or outmatched by any other country in the world. (Applause.) “So much depends on women’s energy, courage, patience, and resource!illness in the Dominion that I, for my part, welcome most enthusiastically this further evidence of achievement of enterprising women.” lie said.
