STRUCK ROCK WHEN DIVING (By Telegraph—Press Association) WAIROA, 23rd January. The body of Bertram Buckler, aged 16, of Wellington, who was drowned on Sunday, was recovered to-day. He and a companion went bathing. In diving, Buckler hit his head on a ledge and* was rendered unconscious. He did not come to the surface. 11 is companion, Williams, endeavoured to recover the body, but was unsuccessful, and it was not until to-day that it was brought from tlie water.

CHILD SUFFOCATED

WAIROA, 23rd January.

An inquest was held to-day into the death of Korn llemi, aged two months. Due to the hot weather the family slept outdoors on Saturday last. til the .morning, before leaving for Gisborne, tlie mother went to see her parents, but before going covered the child’s face with a napkin to protect it Iroui dew. On returning tlie mother ' went to the child and noticed it had stopped breathing. She applied artificial respiration without avail. The evidence at the inquest showed that the child evidently awakened and its breathing had caused the napkin to enter the throat, thus causing suffocation.

COLLAPSE OF ELDERLY MAN CHRISTCHURCH, 24th January Mr Walter Adams, aged 79, of -6o Wainoni road, collapsed iroui a hoait seizure while walking in Worceslei street, Linwood, this alternoon. Jho St. John Free Ambulance was called, and Mr Adams was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, but on arrival there lie was found to be dead.
