AGREEMENT REACHED

ELECTRICAL WORKERS’ DISPUTE (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 20th December. Agreement was reached in the Conciliation Council in the electrical workers’ dispute. Wages are to be Is lid an hour for journeymen electricians. A new rate was decided for radio servicemen at Is 9d an hour; alid the improvers’ rate was increased to Is 5d an hour. The award comes into force on 3rd January and operates for a year. A clause was inserted providing that if any general order of the Court was made it should apply to rates of wages in the award. There was some talk during the discussions that -it was rumoured there was a chance of the Court restoring the 10 per cent. cut.
