BISHOP’S SCHOOL
PRIZ&GIVING CEREMONY The. annual prize-giving ceremony ni connection with the Bishop’s School was held in the schoolroom, there being a good attendance of parents and friends. Carol singing by the pupils was followed by the reading of the annual report. The. Principal, Miss Glendinning, presented a comprehensive summary of the year’s work and spoke appreciatively of the support accorded her by parents and those'who had helped in various branches of the school’s activities. The donors of prizes were specially thanked and a special tribute was paid
to the work of her assistants. The roll number showed a steady increase, particularly in the kindergarten department, a special feature of this section, where the ages range from three to five and a half years, being the remarkable progress made by the younger children. The importance of inculcating a lovo for and knowledge of the best in literature in the earliest stages of a child’s education was strongly, emphasised. Next year it was hoped that preparatory classes dn French and for ear-training and voice production would ho formed. Before calling upon the Dean of Nelson, the Rev. A. J. Raymcr, to present the prizes, Miss Glendinning said that three chil-
