’ AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S TEAM i ; TOUR, OF DOMINION \ (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, 19th December. ’’ The Australian women’s tennis team * for a tour of New Zealand arrived by > the Marama. It comprises Misses N. '• Lloyd (manager), D. Dingle, N. Hall, : j V. Volkenbnrg and L. Bickorton. They • will play at Whangarei on Thursday, > and at Auckland on Saturday. They - will spend Christmas at Rotorua and then go to the South Island to compete - in the New Zealand Championships at t Christchurch. They will play a Test ■, match at Wellington on 12th and 13th e January, and then appear at Masterton and Palmerston North, o Miss Lloyd said that the side was the e strongest available with the exception of . Miss Joan Hartigan, the Australian a champion. It was as strong in the s singles and slightly stronger in the doubles than teams which had previously . visited tho Dominion. 1 Miss Lloyd also said that hard court . tennis was fast increasing in popularity, and it was now estimated that there | were ten hard court players to every grass player. s ——
