BACH IN BACK GARDEN
(To the Editor]
Sir, —May I beg a small space in your valuable paper drawing attention to what is taking place in the Old Country regarding, slums. Millions of pounds are being spent sweeping them away, and none too soon. I'or some time now our Sunny Nelson has been spoken of as a residential city; therefore wo do not want the slum element to creep in here. I can give an instance of a building in a back garden, supposed to have been built for a workshop or shed, but which has not been used as such, but instead has been converted into a two-roomed bach and let. with no conveniences whatever attached. It has been occupied now for some time. If this sort of tiling' is allowed to go on, we will soon be surrounded with slums, and will have to drop the farce o[ talking about a residential city,. Who is responsible in such matters? —I am, etc. A CITIZEN.
