Yorkshire, in the first made 302 (Leyland 86): second, lost none for 28. Yorkshire won by ten wickets. Somerset v. Surrey: Somerset, first 233 (Gower five for 52); second 324 (Burrough not out 92). Surrey. first 326 (Hobbs 111); second, four for 13d. Surrey won by six wickets. Lancashire v. Hampshire: Lancashire, first, 343 (Tyldesley 155, Paynter 71); second five for 146 declared. Hampshire, first 272 (Mead li4)' second 210 (Sibbles six for 56). Lancashire won by seven runs. Gloucester v. Essex: Gloucester, first, 145 (Nichols seven for 52); second. 211 (Sinfield 85). Essex, first, 404 (O’Connor 140). Essex won by an innings and 48 runs. Sussex v. Derby: Sussex', first 202 (Copsoii five for 59); second 309 (Cook ,80, A. Pope taking seven for 34). Derby, first 190 (J. Cornford five for 26) ; 'second 152 (BoVley four for 34). Sussex won by 169 runs. Kent v. Leicester: Kent, first 302 (Ames 72, Watt 89); second nine for 301 declared (Woolley 131). Leicester, first 252 (Freeman six for 87); second 175 (Freeman seven for 41). Kent \yon by 176 runs. INNINGS WIN WEST INDIES V. NORTHUMBERLAND (Received 29th Julv, 8. 55 a.in.) LONDON, 28th July. Playing the W r est Indies, Northumberland in .the rst innings made 129 runs (Valentine four for 42, Griffiths four for 49). They followed on,.making 128 (Valentine four for 44, Da Costa four for 10). West Indies (first, 440) won by an innings and 183 runs. TOUR OF INDIA JARDINE ACCEPTS CAPTAINCY UNAVAILABLE PLAYERS LONDON, 25th July. Jardine has accepted the captaincy of the M.C.G. team for India, which is departing on the 22nd September. The “Telegraph” understands that only six other players who took part in the Australian tour have been approached, three of whom, Sutcliffe, Hammond and Leyland, are unable to accept.
