MR MORGAN’S EVIDENCE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright) WASHINGTON, 24th May. At the banking affairs inquiry Mr J. P. Morgan said: “I state without hesitation that the private hanker is a. national asset and not a national danger. We made many mistakes. Who lias not during the past live years? But our mistakes have been errors of judgment, and not of principle.” The'firm lias deposits totalling 250 million dollars and capital of 53,000,000 Mr Morgan and partners partially controlled eighteen other banks.
