VISIT OF THE GRAND COUNCILLOR

At tiie session of the Loyal Nelson Lodge held in the Rechabites Hall, Bridge street, Bro. W. A. lies, G. Councillor, of Dunedin, was asked aiid consented to preside. The chief templar conveyed the greetings of the Lodges in Dunedin (including the Rescue Lodge to which he belonged) which were heartily reciprocated. Bro. lies then gave an inspiring address to the members of the Nelson Lodge, which resulted in the) members deciding to renew holding the lodge sessions during the absence of Bro. and Sis. Watson on their trip to England, Scotland, and the Hague. Bro. Luck gave an account of the Naval Lodge in Chatham to which he had belonged, and Sis. Moyes L.D. on behalf of the Lodge thanked the visitors—Bro. Luck, and lies and Sis. lies—for their inspiring and informative addresses. Prior to the meeting of the Lodge, the weekly session of the Hope of Nelson Temple was held, Sis. J. Sims, C.T., presiding under the superintendence of Sis. Joan Mitchell, S.J.W. Bro. and Sis. Res gave the gretings of the Dqqedin Temples, and were asked to return the greetings of the Hope of Nelson Temple. Bro. lies then gave a very interesting address to the members present, for which he was heartily thanked. The item for the evening was Recitation Contest, to whoch a large number contributed. A competition game was played, and was won' by Bro. McCawley. Next week’s items will include competitions.

The Hope of Tahuna session was held the previous evening in the Public Hall, Sis. Elsie Longworth, C.T., presiding with Bros. Luck, Somerville and Rogerson, superintending. Bro. Luck referred to the lantern lecture on England to be held shortly to which all juveniles past and present were invited and stated that next week Sis. K. Moyes of Nelson would visit the Temple. Bro. Somerville requested all who had not yet received their prizes to attend next session when they would be presented. The item for the evening was “Parlour Games.” Four different games were played and proved very interesting.
