(Received 15th February, 9.40 a.m.) BOGOTA (Columbia), 14th February. Ending a century of peace, hostilities broke out to-day between Colombian and Peruvian forces in the frontier region of Leitcia.

Alfredo Vasques Coho, commanding tlie Colombian forces, reported that Peruvian aeroplanes bombed the Colombian gunboat Cordoba on the Putumayo river, the first bomb dropping in Brazilian waters. A Colombian squadron took the air, and after a brief but violent fight tlie Peruvian force retired.
