MAULED BY TIGER

CALCUTTA POLICE SERGEANT IN

SERIOUS CONDITION

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right)

CALCUTTA, 14th February

Sergeant Adams, of the Calcutta police, was severely mauled by a tiger, and his condition is critical. He accompanied Sir John Anderson, Governor of Bengal, on a tiger hunt at Jalpaiguri. A tiger was sighted, and was shot and wounded. It leapt at the elephant on which Sergeant Adams was seated. The startled animal threw Adams, who fell on the tiger, which savagely attacked him before it was despatched by a well-aimed shot.
