COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING STATE OF BALANCES AND ROAD EXPENDITURE The monthly meeting of the Waimea County Council hold in the County officer, to-dav was attended by Councillors I. Arising out of the Engineer’s report (published elsewhere in this issue) a committee was set up to inspect the road and the creek in Poorman’s Valley.

TENDERS Tenders were accepted as follows : Gravelling on Dovedale Hill: R. Higgins, at 5s lid per yard for 250 yards. Metalling (900 yards) Wangamoa Valley : Newman Bros. Ltd., 2s 5d per yard. CORRESPONDENCE The Public Works Department forwarded plans in regard to the legalisation of the Gordon Creek road, Golden Downs. .Mr F. I. Ledger forwarded .plans of the proposed township No. 3, Stoke, Saxton’s road. The plans were accepted^ Mr Ledger forward plans in regard to the exemption of road fronting Pt- 61, Block 7, Waimea (near Mr Bell’s property Stoke) from the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928. The matter was referred to the Engineer for report at the next meeting. The Stoke Progressive Association wrote in regard to a number of small matters. The letter was referred to the Engineer. Expenditure of thirds on a road leading to Air 0. Sloss’s property, Korere, was referred to the engineer. Application was made by Air J. G. Wilkinson, Motueka, for to build a hut on an unused road at Kaiteriteri. The Council offers no objection to the erection of the hut on the road but trives the applicant no title. Hie Motueka Harbour Board forwarded a copy of a resolution protesting against rubbish being deposited on the roadside, Moutere lagoon road. A letter oil the same matter was received from the County dayman. The matter is to he investigated. Air C. Harrison, Lower Moutere, re quested repairs to the road leading to ni. ; property. The riding member was appointed to investigate the matter. Air Murray E. R. /White requested formation and gravelling on a portion of the old Alotueka road giving'access to two properties. The Engineer and riding member were asked to report on the matter.

Mr H. C. K. Harley was given permission to erect a private telephone line on Harley’s road, Appleby. The meeting was concluded at 12.45 p.m •
