MAN ATTACKED

SEVERE BLOW ON HEAD

PALMERSTON N., 9th February

When entering the gate of his home near the Show Ground, Mr J. Vickerstaff was struck on the head by an unknown assailant. Mr Viekerstaff was carrying a large sum of money, representing the day’s takings. Half unconscious, Mr Viekerstaff called for help, and fell across his assailant, who freed himself and made off hurriedly without taking any of the money. A doctor was summoned, and it was found necessary to insert seven stitches in the wound in Mr Vickerstaff's head.
