GROUNDING OF THE BREEZE
MATE’S CLAIM AGAINST COMPANY (By Telegraph —Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.' The grounding of the ill-fated steamer Breeze at Gore bay in February was recalled in the Civil Court to-day when Charles. Alfred Williams, formerly mate of the vessel, claimed from the Canterbury Steam Shipping Co., Ltd., £26 for wages in lieu of a month’s notice. Defendants stated that they relied on the alteration of the log book as evidence of misconduct by plaintiff. In his statement of claim the plaintiff said that on 22nd February, 1932, defendant company dismissed him from employment without notice, and without payment of wages in lieu of notice.
