“TOUCHDOWN,” REGENT TO-NIGHT Peggy Shannon, auburn-haired beauty who made good in the films when she was pressed into service as Clara Bow’s substitute in “The Secret Cull,” has the principal feminine lead in “Touchdown !” Paramount’s exciting modern story of big college football, which screens at the Regent Theatre tonight. In this she is the sweetheart of Richard Arlen again. This time Arlen is the coach for Midwest, a large college, where football is played on a big scale in sportsgrounds that hold thousands of persons. Peggy’s brother, played by Charles Starrett, is a member of the Midwest- team—and the big interest comes' when Arlen refrains from putting Starrett into the final game of the season to save him from permanent injury. Peggy is much aggrieved and decides to throw over Arlen. But their difficulties are solved in a romantic ending.

“UP FOR THE CUP”, MAJESTIC TCLNIGHT Fun will certainly be the order of the dijy once more at the Majestic Theatre to-night where the British Dominions super-comcdy production, “Up For I The Cup,” is holding sway. Starring 'the “frozen-faced” comedian of the English talking picture screen, Sydney Howard, this is a positive riot from beginning to end—good, wholesome fun. The comical antics of Sydney Howard as the ■ Yorkshircman who journeys up to Loudon with his lady-love to view the celebrated Cup Final is uproarious, and his , is a characterisation that will he much 'appreciated. Cast in an altogether difI ferent role from those in which we have , been accustomed to seeing him, this pro- ; duction certainly gives Howard plenty 'of scope to add more laurels to his crown. Laughs come thick and fast and when you are not chuckling, you are I thrilling at a superlative display of football by England's premier teams of 1932. Excellent supports complete a fine show.
