There was beautiful weather for the hockey Test for the Manning Clip, when a crowd of 5000 witnessed New Zealand defeat Australia by 7 goals .to. nil. The teams were: — New Zealand—Moore 1 , Spiers, Ewan, Joblin, Munro, Rogers, Reid, Anthony, Bay, Turbitt, Wellbourne. Australia —Rpbinson, Western Australia; Hart, New South Wales; Dr. Tregonniug, West Australia (captain); Kerr, Queensland; Tart, Victoria; Wanless, New South Wales; Dickie, West Australia: Milner, West Australia; Cornrie, Queensland; Best, Queensland; Baileau, Victoria. New Zealand attacked from the first bully, and never let up until the final whistle. There was great combination' between Turbitt, Bay and Anthony, while Joblin was a lower of strength in the halves, and Spiers and Ewan provided the defence. The Australian defence was weak on the left side, and v among a poor forward display Cormie’s work stood out. Bay made history, winning a penalty bully in a test match. Half-time found New Zealand leading by 3 goals to nil. The .New Zealand team was unchanged in the second half, but. Australia replaced Tart at centre-half with Wanless, without avail. The New Zealand forwards wero irresistible, Turbitt playing the game of his career. Anthony suffered a minor hurt. Spiers staved off several strong attacks in the closing stages, when Australia showed some patches of brighter work. Nice passing by Munro at centre-half was responsible* for three goals. The New South Wales hockey team beat South Australia by 6 goals to nil. The New South Wales women’s team beat the Rest of Australia by 3-0.
