PRIME MINISTER OPTIMISTIC (By (Telegraph—Press Association) _ WELLINGTON This Day. The opinion that the nations to-day were beginning to realise the full effect on trade of tariffs and other restrictions, and that one could look forward to a better understanding as the result of the ' stocktaking now taking place at Ottawa, was expressed by the Prime Minister at a smoke concert held by the Company of Marine Mariners. He stated that one could look forward with confidence to the outcome of the Ottawa deliberations, and when an improvement was brought about, the mercantile marine 1 would necessarily participate in the benefits. He hoped that the day was not far distant.
