WANDERING STOCK

POSITION Ok THE POLICE EXPLAINED A letter dealing with the position of the police in regard to wandering stock, written by Superintendent 0- JCummings, was read at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council (reports “The Press”). The police took action against the owners of cattle found wandering. Instructions had been given for-the police to give attention to the matters complained of, a 9 far as their multifarious duties would permit. The danger of wandering stock on the roads was fully appreciated, particularly at night, when animals were occasionally found lying on the road.
