Mr \V. E. Parry, M.P., interjected with a remark to the *effect- it would be better to give the young people a good healthy constitution now rather than worry about their future burdens. His Excellency asked what the interjector had said, and Mr Parry told him. His Excellency then put down his notes and said that if the interjections continued he would have to retire and leave them to find a solution in thenown way. Occupying the position lie did, he would not continue if there were to be interjections. The Mayor, Mr G. Hutchison, said that there must be no more interjection. Mr Parry and two other members of Parliament were present without invitation. j After a moment’s silence His Excellency resumed his remarks. Later in the meeting Mr J. A. Lee, M.P., was refused permission to join in the general discussion, the Mayor saying that no members of Parliament had been asked, as it was thought desirable to avoid politics.
