CHRISTCHURCH SENTENCES (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Prisoners were sentenced by Mr Justice Kennedy as follows :—Edward Joseph Robb (38), a clerk in the civil service, 15 months’ reformative detention for tile theft of £lB3 the property of the Post and Telegraph Department. The Judge said that according to prisoner he incurred debts through gambling and horse racing. The benefits of probation could not, ho extended to liim.i Joseph Gillespie (45), labourer, for arson at Timvald, was admitted to probation for three years, with special conditions attached. Vincent William O’Rourke' (30), labourer, for breaking and entering the Hibernian Hotel at Timaru and committing theft, was ad-, milted to probation for three years on special conditions, including the taking out of a prohibition order.
