DISTRICT NEWS

STOKE HOCKEY DANCE Another very successful dance was held in the Stoke Public Hall under the auspices of the Stoke Hockey Club. In spite of inclement weather a largo number took the floor, and dancing was kept up till after one o’clock. Very excellent music was provided by Mr W. Pearce, piano, Miss N. Coleman, violin, Mr H. Draper, saxophone, and Mr E. Fairhall drums and effects. Novelty dances were the order of the evening, and the winners were as follow: Monte Carlo wait/., Miss Jean Crossan and Mr IL Bruce; Lucky Spot one step, Miss Lightband and Mr G. Bright; Monte Carlo waltz, Miss L. Riddell and Mr G. Bright; Lucky Spot one step, Miss Gracie Crossan and Mr lan Blomnmart. The winner of the needleworked cushion was Mr Stewart. During an interval some humorous sketches in coloured chalks by. Mr T. C.. Scott were greatly enjoyed. The supper arrangements were in Hie capable bands of Mesdawes Heath, Powell and Pearce.
