MOTUEKA DISTRICT FRUIT EXPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION
ELECTION OE OFFICERS AT ANNUAL MEETING POOLING OF SIZES IRRESPECTIVE OF MARKETS The annual meeting of the Motueka District Fruit Exporters’ Association, held in (lie Jubilee Kail, Lower Moutere, was well attended, there being over thirty members present. In the absence of the president, .Mr D limning, lor whom an apology was tendered, Mr C. 11. Mac Kay occupied the chair. The balance sheet presented was regarded as very satisfactory, the Association having commenced the year with £2 Is and ended with a credit balance of £7 16s lOd. On the motion of Messrs K. Holyoake and L. Robinson, the balance sheet was adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mr D. Haining (re-elected); vice-president, Mr J. B. Scott; secretary, Mr A. E. Lindup (re-elected); treasurer, Mr W. Anderson (re-elected); committeemen appointed to fill two vacancies, Messrs C. H. Mac Kay and H. J. Holyoake; auditors, Messrs E. Robinson and A. Rowling (re-elected). Correspondence was read and dealt with, foliowing which the meeting went into committee to discuss at length an important problem confronting growers in connection with next season’s export. Several recommendations were finally decided upon and will be forwarded to Wellington for consideration. On resuming in open meeting some members were of the opinion that an improvement on the present method of pooling export fruit could be effected. They contended that instead of pooling varieties and sizes according to markets, varieties and sizes be pooled irrespective of markets. This was considered a fairer and more equitable way of dealing with the proceeds of export fruit. On the motion of Messrs L. Robinson and E. Robinson, it was unanimously decided that the following resolution be forwarded to the Federation: “That this meeting favours the pooling of varieties and sizes irrespective "of markets.’’ Mr L. Robinson drew attention to the high stacking of export fruit at Port Motueka on a number of occasions during tlie past season, which, he considered, was detrimental to the fruit, and consequently also to the growers’ interests.
It was decided that a deputation consisting of Messrs Lindup and Warren wait on the Harbour Board with a view to increased accommodation being provided for next export season.
