COMING DOG SHOW
GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED Entries have elosed for'the Nelson District Kennel Club’s dog show to be held in the Drill Hall, Nelson, on Fri- | day and Saturday next. The committee ; is well satisfied with the number of ' entries and the quality of same. ] There has been no dog show in Nel-. i son for over 20 years and at the forthcoming show, which will be the fifth j held in Nelson, some of 'the finest specimens of different classes of dogs will be benched. With post entries to come there should be about one hundred and fifty dogs on exhibition. Some very valuable animals will be : benched. I For the different classes there are ! well over two hundred entries. From j the entries received Alsatians bead the I list with collies, fox terriers and cocker 1 spaniels close runners up. Bulldogs, ! Pointers, and Irish Setters have also high entries. There, will be greyhound*, whippets, Sydney silk terriers, Labrador retrievers, pomeraniaiis, Sealyhaut 1 terriers and other well known breeds on show. I The small dog seems to Mind first favour with fanciers for there are about thirty in the varieties of terriers entered—Pekingnese, Chihuahuas, pugs, Samovedes, Kerry .blue terriers, and such iike varieties which in their day have been very popular hut do not appear to lie favourites to-day. Bulldogs * are coming to the front again in popularity. English setters are always popular and this class is well represented. Mr H. Atinore, M.P., will officially open the show and the judge will be Mr W. Cleveredge of Christchurch.
