Third Class Old Boys 21, Waimea 3. Rival 11, College B 9. College A 27, Pirate 3. COLLEGE DEFEAT REGIMENTAL The College-Regimental game was played at the Park. Regimental kicked off and from the loose College started a passing rush which took them down to the Regimental line but a penalty kick enabled Regimental to clear. From a set scrum College hooked the ball, the backs sending it to Stewart who kicked infield. The ball the line but College were unable to score. A scrum was ordered and McArthur snapped lip the ball and ran round on the blind side to score a try which was unconverted. College 3, Regimental 0. From a scrum at half-way the ball went out to Karsten who made a good opening but made the mistake of short punting when he had his winger and another player outside him and only one opponent to beat. Regimental had no difficulty in forcing. The College backs started a passing rush, the ball travelling to Stewart who kicked infield. Shand followed up to score near the posts. Stewart converted. College 8, Regimental 0. College continued to press but Mason relieved with a fine kick, the Regimental forwards carrying the play on to the College line where Fuller was called on to clear. From a scrum the ball passed through the hands of all the backs to Stewart Who gave a return pass, Dee scoring well out from the posts. The kick was unsuccessful. Regimental followed up their kick and several line-outs took place near the College line. From a scrum five yards out McArthur ran round on the “blind” side, passing to Rowe who reached half-way before being tackled. Kilpatrick made good ground with a nice line-kick just before the half-time Whistle was sounded.

On the resumption of play Regimental sent their backs on the attack but the movement broke down. College continued to press but Regimental put up a stubborn defence. Finally the' ball went out to Dee who crossed the line well out for a try. A good kick by Stace just failed. College 14, Regimental 0.

Tight play near half-way was opened up when the ball passed along the College line of backs and was returned to Karsten who scored beneath the posts. At this stage Stace had to retire with an injured shoulder. From half-way the ball again got into the hands of the College backs but a pass was dropped. Denney snapped it up and raced for the line but Fuller, the College last line of defence, brought him down in fine style. Regimental carried play down the field and were awarded a free kick which Mason just failed to put over. From a set scrum the ball went to Dee who again scored beneath the posts. Stewart converted.

Soon after this a good tackle by Mason prevented a further score. Time was sounded with Regimental on the attack. College 24, Regimental 0. The Regimental forwards worked well, Sowman being prominent. They used their weight and kept the game tight so that their backs did not get many real chances to open up play. The reverse was the case in the College team, their forwards giving the backs every opportunity, The score might have been even greater if tile College second five-eiglitli and centre had sent the ball out on more occasions to the wingers.
