ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY
MAN IDENTIFIED BY WOMEN
RECAPTURE EFFECTED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Three women walking down Adelaide load shortly, after 3 o’clock this morning noticed that the appearance ol a man in front of them coincided with the description published last night of William Alexander Crossan, who escaped from Mount Cook por.ee station yesterday morning. They conveyed their suspicions to Constable Cave, who arrested Crossan in the vicinity of the Basin Reserve. Crossan appeared in the Court this morning charged with breaking and entering tho residence of Dr. Ewart-, being in possession by night of housebreaking instruments, and being an incorrigible rogue in that he escaped irorn custody. A remand was granted to 11th May.
