“NOT A PIN BETWEEN THE TWO”
Miss L. Barker, Governor of Aylesbury Borstal Institution, declares that love of dress is the undoing of nearly all the girls under her charge. “Ever since the days of Adam and Eve, ’woman has wanted to attract man, anti man has always wanted to attract woman,” says Miss Barker. “There is not a pin to choose between’the two, only they work in different ways. The woman tries to attract the man hv her clothes; the man tries to attract the girl by motor-car rides and similar treats. The trouble begijis when the girl wants nice clothes and finds she hasn’t got them. Sometimes she steals them; sometimes she obtains them under false pretences. I have a sympathy with these girls.”
