MURDER AT HOBART
A WATERSIDER SHOT

HOBART, sth April. ; A cold-blooded murder was perpetrated in Harrington street, Hobart, when the victim, Charles Whelan, aged 63 years, a watersider living alone, was shot dead by two men who were later seen running away from the scene. A neighbour heard the men demanding money in the vilest language, also Whelan's protests, then a shot and a curse. The neighbour followed the men for some distance, then returned and found Whelan dead.
