DISCRIMINATION
(To the Editor)
Sir, —Judging from the tone of the letter in last night’s issue of “The Mail” signed “Justice,” it is the same “Justice” who attempted to discredit the Mayor and Councillor Huggins in a long letter he wrote in defence of the member for Nelson regarding the Progress League, presumably because they might he candidates at the next election. “Justice” in last night’s “Mail” states that their (the Mayor and Councillor Huggins) failure to discriminate between the man who could afford a 10 per cent, cut and those who could not is also noted for future reference; at the same time again suggesting that they are probable candidates for Parliamentary honours. As “Justice” appears to he in the close confidence of the member for Nelson will he tell us why Mr Atmore failed to discriminate between the wages paid to charwomen at Parliament Buildings and the big salaries drawn by Ministers when he voted for the 10 per cent, cut to apply equally to both? I am etc.,
ELECTOR,
Nelson, 20th June.
