GOVERNMENT PROTEST HOLY SEE’S INTERFERENCE IN ITALIAN AFFAIRS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 25th June, 9.50 a.m.) ROME, 25th June. The Government’s official reply to the Vatican repeats the protest against “illicit interference by the Holy See in the affairs of Italy, and laments that the Holy See insists by speeches, telegrams, and appeals to public opinion abroad upon carrying these events outside the proper place.” The reply adds:, “Greater regard should be shown for the duties imposed on the Holy See. Privileges must not be converted into weapons against the State.”
