IRRIGATION OF LAND
EXPERIMENTS AT ROTHAMSTED OF INTEREST TO DOMINIONS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) . (Received 20th June, 9.16 a.md LONDON, 19th June.
An experiment of interest tb’the Dominions’ orchardists and agriculturists was witnessed by a partv of experts visiting Rotlmmsted experimental: station. The experiments,, which ! were witnessed by a New Zealander, Mr H. M. Richardson, arose out of the belief that irrigated land sometimes lost its value after irrigation due to the effect of constant water on soil which was accustomed to only a small amount of rain. It is hoped Unit the investigators will be able to inform prospective irrigators whether the land is likely to respond to irrigation, saving much needless expense.
