EAST COAST RAILWAY
BOARD TO MAKE REPORT An important announcement affecting the railway now under construction between Wharanui and Parnassus (South Island Main Trunk) is advertised by the Railway Board, states yesterday's “Post.” The board intends to make a report on that railway, and will be willing to receive statements regarding tlie line that any person or organisation may wish to make, such statements to be sent to the General Manager by 30th June. It is expected that the Railway Board will make a personal visit to the district shortly. While nothing definite is stated, it is considered in radway circles that the visit of the board and the preparation of a report foreshadowed a reopening of the question of the Soutli Island Main Trunk. It is thought that the action now being taken is to secure the latest information, in the light of changes and changed conditions, so that the board may approach the question with an open mind.
