DELICIOUS GROWING IN POPULARITY BRITISH MARKETS LONDON, 15th May. The London office of the New Zealand Fruit Board reports to-day that arrivals of New Zealand apples and pears during the past two weeks have been, light, consequently the markets arc fairly well cleared, states tin; Christchurch “'rimes” correspondent.

The Tokoa is now unloading and the Maimoa and Tainui are due to-morrow. These three ships will bring 55,000 cases. 'The market is now clear of ("ox’s, and the principal varieties arriving now are Jonathans and Delicious. Thu Jonathan is an old favourite and provided they are in good condition meet a ready demand. The Delicious arc not so well known here, and only three years ago were very difficult to sell. Each year has seen an improved demand, as the quality is more realised, and we can (JpCvt in time that this variety will be as popular as the Jonathan. The condition of the fruit on arrival has been good, and meets with ready sales in all the markets. Prices continue steady. At the various exhibitions which arc. being hold throughout the country, there is a tremendous demand for apples. At the Scottish Grocers’ Exhibition being held at Edinburgh, a great number of apples have been sold, and at. the exhibition at Hull samples of butter, honey and cheese have been selling well.
