WAKEFIELD WINS DISTRICT CUP The lest same of the season was played on the Maitai Green oil Saturday atLcrnoou, when the final match between iMaitai and Wakefield tor the District Cup was decided. At the end of the game the president of the Maitai Club (Mr Johnson) congratulated the Wakefield players on winning the cup, and called tor three cheers, which were heartily given. Mr Cliing returned thanks on behalf of Wakefield During the afternoon tea adjournment Mr Johnson took the opportunity of thanking all the ladies who had assisted with the afternoon tea and suppers throughout tne season. Mesdames Bores and Lewis dispensed afternoon Lea. HAWKES BAY EARTHQUAKE A letter was read by the president from the Dominion of _ New Zealand Bowling Association, calling on bowlers throughout New Zealand to assist the howlers of Hawkes Ba.y to repair the earthquake damage to ihe greens in that centre. It was estimated that it will cost at least £4OO to repair the damage. In this case, a shilling’s worth of help is worth more than a ton of sympathy. One shilling each from all the' howlers in tlie Dominion would more than put the greens right again. No doubt this will he forthcoming. Secretaries of clubs will he pleased to accept and forward any sums offered.
