NEW ADMINISTRATOR
WELCOMED AT SAMOA (Special to Press Association) (By Radio). (Received 2nd May 9.45 a.m.) APIA. Ist May At nine this morning, favoured by ideal weather conditions, the Administrator General Hart and party landed on a flag-bedecked wharf to (lie salute of fifteen guns. They were officially welcomed by Deputy-Administrator Turnbull, and also present on the wharf were Chief Judge Lux ford ; the Secretary of Native Affairs, Mr Mcßride ; and other officials and heads; also the elected member Mr Meredith, and native members, Maliotoa and Matafa; and a full body of Faipule and constabulary and an armed guard of honour and a band under Inspector Braisley.
The Administrator proceeded to \ ailima and on the way missed through two lines of Ifi Jfi and ■ Malifa school children, each child waving a small Union Jack. The street was decked with streamers, flags and a greenery arch of welcome bearing the words “Afio Mai,” and presented a. charming picture. The whole proceedings wore conducted without a hitch. This afternoon the Administrator will attend a Samoan welcome function at M iilimui.
