THE ANTARCTIC
'DISCOVERY’S VOYAGE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 25th February, 11.40 a.m.) • SYDNEY, Tins Day. A wireless from the Discovery states that the vessel when passing the mouritainous coastline of Macßobertson Land in which high peaked ranges trend in a south westerly direction found that the floors of the neighbouring seas were extraordinarily uneven, shoaling from great depths to dangerous submerged reefs, requiring cautious navigation. A number of islets appeared, and with a gale blowing Captain Mackenzie decided on 14th February to head for the open sea through suow and darkness, until daylight disclosed that the ship had miraculously traversed a course in which there were many grounded bergs, and gained the lee of these 40 miles north of land. The vessel is now awaiting the gale to abate.
