Dr. Dwyer, Roman Catholic Bishop of Wagga, in a Lenten pastoral, scathingly condemns the tendencies of modern life towards licentiousness and dishonesty. He attacks politicians as schemers, and too often shirkers of work, who obtain power by promises and professions and anxiety for the people’s welfare, which are seldom sincere exoept towards those who follow, their opinions and applaud their arrangements.
