SUNDAY ISLAND
NO NEGOTIATIONS FOR PURCHASE (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Sunday Island is still the property of the New Zealand Government. No transaction involving the purchase of the island has been agreed to, or even considered. It was stated in a cable message from Sydney that Dr. A. J. Ross, of Brisbane, had bought the island outright, but from inquiries made in official circles it is obvious that the statement is incorrect. Sunday Island is the principal island in the Kermadecs group. “The department is not leasing or disposing of any part of the island, and knows nothing of the matter,” said an official of the Lands Department.
