DISCOVERY IN PALESTINE RAMPARTS OF A CITY JERUSALEM, 9th February. The remains of ancient city walls and ramparts complete have been unearthed at Ramat Rachel, between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The finds include a marble slab with figures, identified as the Canaanito god Baal and the goddess lshtar, dating back earlier than 1500 B. C. ; also oil pitchers, lamps, flints and mysterious caves with galleries and funeral chambers.
