CUP WON BY THE BETTY (By Telegraph—Press Association) DUNEDIN, 21st February. The Rona (Southland) won the fifth Sanders Cup race. The sixth race was abandoned, the time having expired. DUNEDIN, 23rd February. The Betty, (Wellington) won this morning’s race, and the Sanders Cup. The Colleen was second.
CUP PRESENTED TO WELLINGTON CREW DUNEDIN. This Day. The Sanders Cup was presented to the Wellington crew at the town hall by the Mayor, Mr R. S. Black last evening, in the presence of a large gathering of visiting and local yachtsmen. The winning crew was heartily congratulated on its victory by the Mayor, and Mr J. G. Paul, president of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association and delegates from Auckland, Canterbury, and Southland. The Auckland Sanders Cup challenger Avalon has been sold to Mr P. Hunter, of Port Chalmers. Mr Hunter at one time owned the Cup winner, lona, and was the prime mover in the building of the Eileen.
