LOVE OF MUSIC BEGINS IN BABYHOOD
It is a fact as obvious as it is significant that the desire for music is one of the earliest cravings of which we are conscious. Among the first delights of the awakening mind of the infant is its pleasure in sounds which may not'be altogether musical, but which soon merge into music. For example, the baby’s rattle lias an unfailing if a somewhat mysterious appeal to its tiny ears, and toy-hells tin trumpets, and drums, make music for children the world over. Fifty pet- cent, of the contents of the toy shop, as a matter of fact, are noise-toys, or piusic-toys.
