YACHTING

SECOND RACE FOR SANDERS CUP

WON BY BETTY (By Telegraph—Press Association) DUNEDIN, 18th February. A north-east wind and a fairly heavy sea gave the crews a hard gruelling in the second race for the Sanders Memorial Cup, which was sailed over a triangular course on the upper harbour. The race was again a procession and resulted in an easy wip for the Wellington boat Betty. The Auckland skipper cut the mark too fine and the mainsail fouled the mark. The Avalon tilted to such a degree that she almost capsized. After coming off the wind the Avalon retired from any part in the race, although her crew sailed her about until some other boats finished. The official sailing times were: Betty, lhr. 51min. 25sec. ; Colleen, lhr. 53min. 30sec. ; Rona. 2hr. Omin. 30sec.; Eileen, <2hr. 4min. 40sec.
