SUGGESTIONS TO PRIME MINISTER BY REPRESENTATIVE DEPUTATION (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A deputation representing the Employers’ Federation, tho Fanners’ Union, the .Manufacturers’ Association, tho Shoopownors’ Federation, the Fruitgrowers’ Federation, the Poultry Breeders’ Association, the Elaxgrowers’ Association, the Land Development Leaguo and others waited on tho Prime Minister in accordance with u decision arrived at at a conference in December and placed before him a number of resolutions suggesting tho directions in which economy might be effected to meet the eeonuinic depression. These include tho suspension of capital expenditure not ensuring ail immediate return, the reduction of State salaries and administration costs, the ’giving of immediate effect, to all recommendations of the railway commission, and the calling upon all local bodies to eliminate non-essential expenditure. The chief speakers were Mr 11. T. Merritt, president of the Associated Chambers and Mr A. (Mitchell, President of the Employers’ Federation.

Mr Forbes said that the Government recognised that certain measures were necessary and would not hesitate to place them before tho people, and it would he for the people to decide, whether they would accept them or not. lie would issue a delinite statement on the whole, jiosition together with the Government s policy before the end of the week.
