The concluding day of the Westport Trotting Club’s Meeting was held in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance. Results are as follow: Charleston Handicap, (harness), of 100 sovs; 2.30 class; 12 furlongs and a half.—7 Royal Drusus, 60yds bhd, 1; 4 Bonnie Wrack, 60yds bhd. 2; 1 Indian Author, 60yds bhd, 3. All started. Time, 3.46 2-5.
Granity Handicap (harness), of 110 sovs; 2.34 class—l Todd Bingen, 36yds bhd, 1; 3 Esbine, 48yds bhd, 2; 2 Child Boy, 48yds bhd, 3. Scratched: Nancy Bingen. Won by half a length. Time, 3.58 4-5.
Dominion Handicap (harness), of 110 sovs; 2.30 class; 12 furlongs and a half —1 Major Brent, 12yds bhd, 1; 7 Jean Drusus, scr, 2; 5 Brent Elect, scr, 3. All started. Won by a length; two lengths. Time, 3.43. Westport Trotting Club Handicap (harness), of 300 sovs; 2.22 j class; sixteen furlongs and a half—l Great Author, 48yds bhd, 1; 2 Olive Nelson, 24yds bhd. 2; 3 Author Franz, scr, 3. Won by three-quarters of a length; three lengths. Time, 4.49 1-5. Waimangaroa Handicap (saddle), of 110 sovs; 2.27 class; ten furlongs and a half—4 Major Brent, scr, 1; 1 Golden Bond, scr, 2; 10 Dollar King, scr, 3. Scratched: Jean Drusus. Won by two lengths each way. Time, 3.5. Scanlop Memorial Handicap (harness), of 120 sovs; 2.34 class; sixteen furlongs and a half—s Wikitoria, scr, 1; 2 Real Money, scr, 2; 4 Bell Heather, scr, 3. Scratched: Nancy Bingen. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 5.12 2-5.
Birchfield Handicap (harness), of 120 sovs; 2.28 class; twelve furlongs and a half —2 Lomar, 12yds bhd. T; 5 Dillon Chimes, 12yds bhd, 2; 1 Le Fashion, 24 yds bhd, 3. Scratched: Major Brent, Shortly. Won by a length, half a length. Time, 3.44. Dash Handicap, of 120 sovs; 2.23 class; eight furlongs and a half.—6 Donat’d, 48yds bhd, 1; 2 Liglitwood, 48yds bhd, 2; 7 Flying Kate, ser, 3. Ten started. Won by half a length. Time, 2.26 >2-5. Investments on the totalisator amounted to £9200 as compared with £6624 10s for the corresponding day last year, making a total for the meeting of £19,480 10s as against £17,455 10s last year.
