FINAL DAY IN ENGLAND
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right)
LONDON, sth December
Mr G. W. Forbes, on his final day in England, paid a farewell call on Mr MacDonald, placed a wreath on the Westminster Abbey tablet to the Empire's million dead, and interviewed Sir Ernest Harvey, deputy-governor of the Bank of England.
Mr Forbes's final statement paid a tribute to the hospitality shown him throughout Britain and Ireland. Though the Imperial Conference's decisions had not gone as far as he had hoped, he added, some important decisions had been reached, while many of the undecided questions he considered would be solved by personal contacts between public and commercial leaders, which so far had been most valuable. New Zealand sold the bulk of her products to Britain, and as a matter of sentiment gave the Motherland preference through the Customs. The Dominion desired the fullest measure of preference. He highly appreciated the goodwill New Zealand and her products enjoyed in Britain.

G. W. Forbes) on his return to New Zealand from the Imperial Conference in January. That opinion was expressed at a meeting of the Canterbury executive and supporters of the United Party. If was stated that although Mr Forbes' efforts for New Zealand preference and inter-Em-pire trade had not met with the success he had anticipated something more in the direction of his ideals should be hoped for from the Conference at Ottawa next year. It was stated that Mr Forbes would probably visit various centres in New Zealand on his return.
