COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING ENGINEER'S REPORT There was a full attendance at the monthly meeting of the Takaka County Council" held in the Council Chambers, Takaka. The Engineer's report was as follows: Anatoki Hiding: I inspected road fronting Mr G. Roger's property and propose placing 9in. pipes across road. The matter of repairs to Aaron's Creek road is receiving attention and the power grader has graded the by-roads at East Takaka. I would suggest that the matter of legalisation of proposed deviation at One Speck be completed. Waitapu Riding: A few days' work on Pigeon Saddle and Wainui road has been authorised, also the filling in of ruts on Ligar Bay road is receiving attention. The gorse has been cleared on Cemetery road. Clifton, and repairs carried out to Glencoo road. Mr D. 0. Winter has trimmed the hedge on Clifton Corner. Main Highways: Further metalling has been carried' out on Number 3 section fronting Mr Matthews's property, also near Mr F. Sparrow's. Pipes will be placed at Hamama corner when available. Manuka has been cut back at approach to Lindsay bridge. A narrow corner on McArtney's hill has been widened, also a corner near Bird's hill. The power grader scarified the road leading to Pohara and reformed the surface preparatory to metalling. The Highways Board agreed to Mr Small's tender for the reconstruction of the Pohara culvert and a start on the contract will be made this week. General.—Tarakohe wharf approaches : Further work is necessary to the road formation opposite the wharf before this contract is finally passed. Also the approaches in connection with the Longford bridge contract require attention before finalising.
GENERAL BUSINESS
Arising from the report it was resolved that account for £ls be passed for payment and legalisation be completed in connection with One Speck deviation; that the Engineer inspect the approaches to the Longford bridge as soon as the contractor has carried v.ub the extra filling; that the Engineer arrange a satisfactory agreement with Mr McCallum as regards 7 chain road, Anatoki. It was resolved that a special meeting be held on 24th December, 1930, at 1.30 p.m. to pass accounts. Councillor Harwood reported that Mr Hanron referred to matai and totara trees on the road reserve and asked for permission to remove same. It was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the Engineer. Councillor Reilly referred to the road at Tarakohe Gulfy and the cream stand, stating that the road requires repairs. It was resolved that the Engineer inspect with power to act. Councillor Sparrow reported that Mr Falconer asked to have gravel removed from Waitapu harbour. It was resolved that the engineer have gravel re moved from the fall in the harbour. It was resolved that permission be granted Mr R. W. Sparrow to place a crossing over watertable fronting his for the supply and delivery of 300 yards (more or less) of Rototai beach metal on the Takaka-Tarakohe Main Highway were received from four carriers; that of Mr C.'J. Emms was accepted at 5s per cubic yard. It was resolved that the County Office he closed from 25th December to 3rd January, both days inclusive.
